A CUS code serves as a reference number to the European Customs Inventory of Chemical Substances (ECICS). Based on the CUS code, the European Regulation on the Production and Trade of Chemical Substances (REACH Regulation EC 1907⁄2006) determines the applicable rules governing the production, use, or import of the substance.
